Hrm... It would seem that shouting in a box would not be as acoustically effective as a cone, but I suppose it serves its purpose

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 6:04 AM

I'm 22.. Bleh.

===

I need your help with a final. I can't tell you much cause I want it to be a surprise, but let's make up songs that involve Kingdom Hearts 2's XIII.

Example: "I Left My Heart in Twilight Town" "I'm Just a Nobody"

Go for it!

Contest entry.. + submission responses (done)

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 24, 2008, 12:26 PM

*crosses fingers*

Edit: I started going through the contest submissions today to add the ones I like. (See my favorites for the collection.) I'm not done going through all of them. Unfortunately, I've found some that their characters have similar spray can powers and what not like mine does. Not accusing anyone, I'm sure it's complete conwinkydink. Just like with her name being Rei, I found a few submissions with the same character name (making me go "dammit").

Perhaps I should have gone through the submissions before I submitted my character, but when I thought of her the day of the contest, it was the only idea I had, so I went with it. I posted her first look on April 6th, moved it to scraps on the 7th, and made what you see now on like.. the 9th or 10th. Her powers were the first thing I thought of, but I'm not happy with the final result.

Anyway, some really great ones so far.. some really good ones...

And then you have the MS Paint submissions that just made me go "..wow, really?"

Edit edit: After going through all the submissions, my main response is:

"OBVIOUS WEAPON IS OBVIOUS. Why does you character have a gun/sword/scythe/gun/gun/gun/sword/keyblade/axe? You realize that's not the point of the game right? The characters have weapons that are everyday items such as:

cellphones
stuffed animals
pins

Then you have the creative people that have drums, computer tablets, scarves, markers, and singing as weapons. I LOVE those (The drums the most).

Seriously... "

I'm so tired of people. Same little morons harassing me over on FA just cause I left.

To Aakashi or Arania or PGiraffe or their little goonies:

Fuck you.

You continue to harass me for no reason. You try to bring up points that only counter your own attitude.

To Aakashi, I dare you to try to post a journal saying that I told you all this shit again like you did last time. I sent you an IM on Yahoo to LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE.

To Arania, go ahead and spread your little lies about how I refuse to do this or that. I rather not draw than to draw the shit you bring yourself to do.

To PGiraffe, HAVE YOU SUCCEEDED IN GETTING HER TO GO OUT WITH YOU YET?! LOLOLOL

And to all the little goonies that create accounts on dA/FA just to harass me:

Grow up. You talk about me spending time on the internet (like you actually know how much time I spend on the internet), and yet you create accounts just to tell me this? Someone has way too much time on their hands to go and try to start a war with people who don't like your "gods" shitty art.

Hopefully, this will be the last time I make another journal about any of them again. I'm tired of this. You make a trolling comment again, I'll just leave it there for all to see how retarded you are.

Edit:

Just to throw it out here, I'm tired of people saying that "Just cause you went to art college doesn't make you a good artist."

Well, no shit, Sherlock. I never once said I was a great artist. But you don't have to be a "great artist" to know when something doesn't look right on someone's work. Tired of all the whiny little fucks going around complaining that someone critiqued their work, and said that this or that didn't look right. BOO FUCKING WOO!

Just because someone said that it didn't look right in a few places doesn't mean you gotta throw your work up in the air and quit life forever!!!!1111one It means you have room for improvement. EVERYONE DOES. I know I do, and everyone who isn't a total prick about their art knows this.

No one is perfect, so stop bitching cause I told you that you weren't.

Law Overreaction

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 12, 2008, 6:31 AM

The orphan works law, if passed, only applies to works where the owner cannot be found after a good-faith effort is put into searching for it. If you make yourself easy to find, there's no problem; the easy way is to always post the work with contact information (even an e-mail address or your dA account itself) so that there's never any doubt that you're available. Furthermore, the law as proposed specifically states that you are entitled to negotiate a payment plan with the party using the work, on the same terms as if the negotiation had taken place beforehand if the person had found you. if someone uses it after failing to find you, and you find out, you can charge them the same fee you would have charged them to use it in the first place. The registered copyright is only to allow you to sue them for lost profits, which is only relevant if you're actually making profit off of the work in the first place.

You can basically ignore the stuff about mandatory registration; it's in violation of the international treaties that the US is party to and Congress has basically already said they wouldn't pass it -- it came up a couple years ago and it was struck down then, too.

The orphan works issue is a widely-held concern -- it makes it difficult for museums and archives and such to gather collections of art where the owner has disappeared/died, as well as, for instance, individuals who have professional photos taken and the photographer doesn't leave any way to contact them for additional prints. The law isn't targeted to help artists; it's for consumers, but it includes protection for the artists. The main point, though, is to help the people who would otherwise have no legal way to use the copyrighted work.

It'll kill sites like dA.

Hardly. If anything, dA is the safest place to be. Like I said, just having your art here is enough.

Example: Say you got your pictures done by a professional. Years later, you wanna make scrapbooks to give to your family members, and you want more prints. Well, what if that photographer closed and you can't find him anymore, even though you searched high and low. Without this law, you'd have no legal way of making more prints of the photos.
